Discerning Spirits and Clarifying Thoughts
February 15, 2020 from 9 am to 4 pm
Before he founded the Society of Jesus, St. Ignatius of Loyola realized that he had three types of thoughts: thoughts that came from God and the good spirit, those that came from the devil and the evil spirit, and thoughts that arose from himself. By learning to discern between these thoughts, Ignatius came to discover more deeply and surely God’s will for him and embarked on the adventure that would be his life in Christ! Join us for this Saturday workshop in which we will learn to examine more closely the spiritual dynamics at work in our lives using St. Ignatius ‘s basic rules for the discernment of spirits.
The workshop facilitator, Fr. Sylvester Tan, SJ, is the director of programs at the Villa Saint-Martin Jesuit Retreat House. He has organized study groups around the discernment of spirits in the United States and Canada.
